Mission:
The mission of KIPP Bridge Charter School is to develop the academic knowledge, skills, and character traits necessary for students to achieve success in the finest high schools and colleges, and the competitive world beyond. Strengthened by these skills, habits, and qualities, the students of KIPP Bridge Charter School will prioritize the goal of a college education in achieving personal success.

History:
KIPP Bridge was founded in Oakland in the summer of 2002 as part of the Oakland Unified School District's New Small Autonomous Schools. In July of 2003, David Ling became the school leader of KIPP Bridge College Prep. In the summer of 2007, KIPP Bridge became a charter

• 65% qualify for the federal free and reduced-price meals program

Achievement:
A former Title 1 Academic Achievement Award winner, in the 2006-07 school year, KIPP Bridge outperformed the Oakland Unified School District average in all grades and subjects on the California Standards Test.

Principal:
David Ling is a resident of Oakland and an East Bay native. Prior to working at KIPP, Mr. Ling taught 7th and 8th grade Social Studies in Baltimore, Maryland through the Teach for America program. He received his bachelor’s degree is sociology from the University of California, Berkeley and a Masters of Arts in Teaching degree from Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore. When not at school, Mr. Ling enjoys spending time with his wife and son, playing soccer, and running.
