Mission
The mission of KIPP Bayview Academy is to develop in the students of Southeastern San Francisco the knowledge, critical thinking skills and character traits needed to succeed in top quality high schools and colleges, and to lead deliberate and productive lives.
History
KIPP Bayview Academy (KBA) is a public middle school that opened in July 2003. The school was founded by principal Molly Wood. With the help of three teachers and an office manager, KIPP Bayview Academy served an initial fifth grade class of 80 students. Today the school serves more than 250 students in grades 5-8. In 2009, Kerianne Ryan became principal.
From the outset, KBA has been committed to working with the students of the greatest need in the Bayview Hunters Point community. Since its inaugural year, KBA has delivered on that commitment. To date, KBA alumni have earned over $1.2 million to attend excellent high schools throughout the San Francisco Bay Area.
