KIPP Through College works with KIPP students in eighth grade as they begin the search for college preparatory high schools In regions where there are no KIPP high schools, such as West Oakland and San Francisco, High School Placement Directors work directly with KIPP middle schools to ensure students and their families have access to college knowledge, apply to college preparatory high schools, and have the financial aid necessary to attend.
High School Placement Directors provide workshops to students and families, support students’ transition between middle and high school, and forge relationships with local college preparatory high schools to ensure KIPP alumni build strong pipelines that lead them to college.
At every KIPP middle school, High School Placement Directors or Counselors support students through mentoring, tracking academic progress, providing resources to leadership and enrichment programs and working with families to guarantee students stay on a track to and through college.
