KIPP students become alumni post promotion from a KIPP middle school. In the case that there is no KIPP High School nearby, such as the case for KIPP Bridge Charter School, KIPP San Francisco Bay Academy and KIPP Bayview Academy, KIPP Through College pairs alumni with an individual college advisor.
College advisors work with students throughout their high school career, ensuring they meet A-G requirements, are engaged in school and extracurricular activities, and continue to use the scholarly habits, knowledge, and skills learned at KIPP. Advisors work especially closely with students in their senior year, guiding students through the college application process – from researching the right college fit for each student and completing applications to accessing scholarships and enrolling in college. Additionally, KIPP advisors provide targeted support and guidance during students during their freshman, sophomore and juniors years to ensure they students stay on track.
KIPP Through College offers college tours, workshops on college application and essay-writing, and builds partnerships with high school counselors and external college access organizations to ensure students are supported to high school graduation and beyond.
