Annual Fund

This year, more than 2,000 Bay Area students are proving that demography does not define destiny. At KIPP Bay Area Schools, our Annual Fund supplements public funds (federal, state and local) to create a powerful program that helps students climb the mountain to college. In the 2009-2010 school year, just $2,800 annually sponsors the full KIPP education program for one student, which includes:

  • an excellent public school option in Bayview Hunters Point and Western Addition in San Francisco, East San Jose, San Lorenzo, and West Oakland
  • a proven path to and through college for all students, regardless of previous academic record
  • a longer school day and year to focus on academic achievement and character development, with time for music, sports, and enrichment
  • school autonomy in decisions over staff, salaries, and budget priorities
  • teachers available by cell phone at night and on weekends

The KIPP Bay Area Schools Alumni Scholarship Fund

This year, more than 300 eighth graders will graduate from five KIPP Bay Area middle schools. Some choose to continue their journey to college at KIPP King Collegiate or KIPP San Jose Collegiate. Others venture beyond KIPP to attend competitive college-preparatory high schools in the Bay Area and across the nation. Those who attend private or parochial schools need financial support.

Thanks to a groundbreaking challenge gift, the KIPP Bay Area Schools Scholarship Fund can meet this need. Awarded to eligible students, these customized grants combine with financial aid and family contribution to pay for tuition, fees, books, and transportation.
