Careers at KIPP San Francisco Bay Academy:
Teacher
KIPP San Francisco Bay Academy is dedicated to providing its students with the knowledge,
skills and character traits needed to succeed in top-quality college preparatory high
schools, colleges, and the competitive world beyond. The students at KIPP San Francisco
Bay Academy are among the hardest working around, with national and state test results
that prove their commitment and dedication. A California Distinguished School, SF Bay is
now the top-ranked middle school in San Francisco, and in the top 10% statewide. The
school ranks 10 on the API (Academic Performance Index) when compared to all schools,
and 10 when compared to like schools demographically (of all top-ranked schools, the
school has the largest African American and Hispanic/Latino populations by far).
Last spring, SF Bay’s first graduating class earned over $360,000 in scholarships to private
and parochial schools. All eighth graders were accepted into college-prep schools such as
Lick-Wilmerding, Urban, and International, parochial schools such as St Ignatius, Sacred
Heart, and Riordan, and public schools such as Gateway and Lowell. While the school has
experienced great success, the new principal will face the challenge of taking this young
middle school to the next level.

About KIPP National
KIPP, the Knowledge Is Power Program, is a national network of free, open-enrollment,
college-preparatory public schools in under-resourced communities throughout the United
States. There are currently 57 locally-run KIPP schools in 17 states and Washington, DC,
which are serving over 14,000 students. Through high expectations for students and
staff,
world-class teachers and principals, more time in school, autonomy over budget and
curriculum, and a focus on results, KIPP schools have been widely recognized for putting
under-served students on the path to college. More than 80 percent of KIPP students are
low-income and more than 90 percent are African American or Hispanic/Latino. Nationally,
nearly 80 percent of KIPP alumni have matriculated to college.
