KIPP Heartwood Academy: General Teaching Position Description
To achieve its mission, KIPP Heartwood Academy opened its doors to 73 fifth grade students in July 2004, becoming the first public charter school in Alum Rock. KIPP Heartwood Academy provides 5th through 8th grade students in Alum Rock and East San Jose with a rigorous, college-preparatory education that prepares them for success in the nation’s most rigorous high schools, colleges, and universities. By partnering with parents, teachers, community members, and the Alum Rock Elementary School District, KIPP Heartwood Academy proves that with the necessary desire, discipline, and dedication, East San Jose children can perform at the same high levels as other students in Santa Clara County and be on a solid track to success in high-school, college, and the competitive world beyond. In September of 2010, KIPP Heartwood Academy was named a Blue Ribbon school by the United States Department of Education.

KIPP San Jose Collegiate: General Teaching Position Description
KIPP San Jose Collegiate will provide a rigorous, academic program to prepare students to enter and succeed in the nation’s finest four-year colleges and universities and the competitive world beyond. By building poised, confident, and articulate leaders, our graduates will use their education and life experiences to make positive change in their own lives, within the East San Jose community, and among our global society. In August 2008, KIPP San Jose Collegiate opened its doors to students from East San Jose who are committed to working hard to prepare for college and success in life. The school was founded by Melissa Gonzales, who was herself a founding teacher at KIPP Heartwood Academy in 2004.
